Free agency periods are rarely going to be without painful losses, even for teams at the top of their conference like the Philadelphia Eagles.

Philly was always going to see a few key names walk with the goal of staying within cap compliance, and the fact that they have done so well to keep many important starters is impressive on its own.

Still, starters have departed and will continue to do so.

The most recent name to make it into that unfortunate list is starting veteran guard Isaac Seumalo.

While this move may not come as a complete surprise based on the last few weeks seemingly pointing towards this being a contingency, the loss will still sting just as much.

Seumalo has spent seven years with the Eagles and started various stretches for the first six.

2022 was a return to the starting lineup for Seumalo for the full season, and the results did not disappoint. This was the best year of the veteran's career, and Seumalo was a huge part of why the Eagles had one of the best offensive lines in the league.

This great play ended up being what kept the Eagles from being able to afford the fast-rising guard, but no one would trade that performance for a better contract now.

The loss hurts, but it is now time for the Eagles to start exploring all of their options to replace Seumalo in 2023 as they look to return to the NFC Championship game.
