The Cincinnati Bengals have paid three external free agents so far this offseason.
Orlando Brown Jr. got the bag to play left tackle. Nick Scott got a raise to start at safety. Cody Ford signed on to a one-year prove-it deal.
We now have the contract details for Scott and Ford.
Scott put pen to paper on a three-year, $12 million deal with $3 million guaranteed, all of which is in the signing bonus. His cash payout for the 2023 season is $4.4 million. He will also earn up to $200,000 in per game roster bonuses and $100,000 in workout bonuses each year. Because his PGRB for 2023 is not likely to be earned, Scott's cap number is slightly less than $2.4 million.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2023 | $1,100,000 | $1,000,000 | $200,000 | $100,000 | $2,388,235 |

Over The Cap
As for Ford, his one-year deal is pretty straight-forward. Ford will earn the veteran minimum of $1.08 million as a fifth-year player. Because of his veteran status, the Bengals had the option to lower his cap number to $940,000 as a part of the Veteran Salary Benefit, which means he'll count as a two-year veteran on the cap.

Over The Cap
In all likelihood, Ford will have to earn his roster spot come August with nothing guaranteed in his contract.
