Former Vols RB Arian Foster makes another wild NFL claim
Former Tennessee Vols running back Arian Foster is creating waves in the NFL again
Former Tennessee Vols and NFL running back Arian Foster caused quite a stir earlier this year when he jokingly claimed that the NFL is scripted.
Foster made the joke during an episode of Barstool Sports' "Macrodosing Pod".
After Foster's joke went viral, NFL players joking about their "script" dominated the internet for a couple of weeks.
The script talk has died down now that the NFL season is over. But Foster might have thrust himself right back into the limelight with his latest controversial claim.
This week during the latest episode of the "Macrodosing Pod", Foster claimed that NFL insiders like ESPN's Adam Schefter pay for "scoops".
Foster pointed out that guys like Schefter get most of their information from agents.
"That's where they get all of their information from — Schefty, all these cats — they're getting it from agents," said Foster. "All of their inside information is just from agents. And they pay for that information, like 'you give me $20,000, I'll give you this tip'. That's how that s–t works."
Foster then went on to say that he doesn't think suggesting that Schefter and other insiders are paying for scoops is controversial.
I have no idea if Foster is correct. Schefter operates in a different world than most folks in the media.
I will say, however, that I've always assumed that Schefter gets information from agents because he has information to give them. He's the gatekeeper of information in the NFL, essentially.
It wouldn't be a surprise if Foster's latest claim causes another stir. The former Vol has seemingly figured out how to send shockwaves through the NFL on a regular basis.
But hey, that's what makes the NFL offseason entertaining.
