The NFL Draft is weeks away, which means that the pressure is on for Indianapolis Colts to land their franchise quarterback. Fortunately, pro days give us a bit of a clue of who the Colts could be favoring in the process.
Indianapolis sent area scouts to watch CJ Stroud, Bryce Young and Will Levis at their respective pro days. While the Colts were in the building for the first-round quarterback prospects, there was not a ton to take away.
However, the Colts may signaled which quarterback that they have their eyes on. That is because chief personnel executive Morocco Brown was in attendance for Anthony Richardson's pro day on Thursday.
That is a significant note. Brown was promoted to his current position in the front office from director of college scouting. In that role, Brown was a key figure in the drafts that led to Quenton Nelson, Jonathan Taylor, and Shaq Leonard being selected.
It's safe to say that Brown has a strong voice in the draft process. So when he is at a pro day, it's worth paying attention. Brown being at Richardson's pro day suggests that Indianapolis is doing serious due diligence on the Florida quarterback.
Furthermore, Richardson is the betting favorite to be selected by the Colts. That doesn't always indicate draft plans, it's something else to keep in mind. There is definitely smoke around the Florida quarterback being the pick.
Richardson showcased his arm talent in front of Brown and the Colts, which certainly does not hurt. He has a big arm and unreal athletic ability at the most important position on the field.
Richardson is seemingly an ideal fit for the offense that head coach Shane Steichen runs. He can hurt defenses through the air with his cannon of an arm, but he is also extremely dynamic outside of the pocket too.
There's a month to go until the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Indianapolis Colts may have just signaled their plans.
