The Arizona Cardinals released perennial Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins this past weekend, immediately making him the hottest commodity on the free agent market.

With a well-known need for impactful wide receivers, the Tennessee Titans were one team immediately linked to Hopkins. Titans fans and media alike began to consider how different the 2023 outlook would be if the team acquired the 30-year old wide out. But of course, Titans fans are not alone. Hopkins will have many suitors to choose from.

With that in mind, what are the chances the Titans actually land Hopkins? Let's take a look at the current landscape and betting odds.

The consensus from the betting world is that the Titans are a serious long shot to be Hopkins' next team. Most sportsbooks with the prop available do not even list the Titans as a potential destination.

Meanwhile, on DraftKings Sportsbook, Tennessee is currently +3000, tied for the 13th best chances to win the sweepstakes.

Although the on paper fit seems to be there and Hopkins is on the record of having a good relationship with Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, Tennessee would still need to jump through quite a few hoops to make signing Hopkins possible.

In order for the Titans to clear enough cap space to afford him, they would need to restructure, cut, or extend Ryan Tannehill, Kevin Byard, or Derrick henry. Then there's the whole challenge of convincing Hopkins to play in your run-first offense in Music City when he can opt to contend for a Super bowl and catch passes from Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes.

On the "I AM ATHLETE Podcast," Hopkins shared the five quarterbacks he would most want to catch passes from. That list unsurprisingly included Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert.

Tennessee has the right head coach for Hopkins and could theoretically offer Hopkins more targets than Buffalo or Kansas City could. The question is, how important are those factors compared to things like elite quarterback play and a contending roster?
