A Tennessee Vols defender that entered the NCAA transfer portal last week announced his new destination on Friday morning.
Defensive lineman Da'Jon Terry, a former three-star recruit who originally transferred to Tennessee from Kansas, entered the transfer portal last week despite the portal closing on April 30.
Terry's status as a graduate student allowed him to enter the portal after the April 30 cutoff.
On Friday, Terry announced that he's transferring to Oklahoma (which makes him the fourth Tennessee player to transfer to Oklahoma in the last 2.5 years).
Terry sent a message to Vol Nation after announcing his decision to transfer.
"It has been a great honor to call Tennessee my, "Home sweet home," for the past two years," wrote Terry. "From my first day on campus I did nothing but Give My All for my teammates, coaches, and every other person that helped me on my journey as a Vol. For me to obtain my goals and aspirations, my family and I have decided it would be best for me to enter the transfer portal. I want to thank my teammates for each and every day we stepped on the field together to make each other better. I want to thank Coach Heupel, Coach Banks, and Coach G not only for the opportunity but for the constant push to be the best I could be. I also want to thank everyone that helped me become the best person I could be off the field. I could not be where I am today without every person that has entered my life here in Knoxville. Thank you so much."
Terry totaled 35 tackles and three sacks during his two seasons at Tennessee.
While Terry's departure isn't "devastating" to the Vols' roster, it certainly hurts Tennessee's depth along the defensive line.
Fortunately for the Vols, they have some solid young defensive line talent that should be ready to make an impact in 2023.
