The San Francisco 49ers bumped mandatory minicamp up by a week, but unfortunately, undrafted rookie receiver Shae Wyatt won't be joining the team.
Per Niners Nation's Kyle Posey, the 49ers released Wyatt on Tuesday moments before camp started. They also signed veteran defensive lineman Darryl Johnson in a corresponding move.
Wyatt hails from Tulane University and is now eligible to sign with any NFL team that wants to bring him on. Johnson has appeared in 38 games that includes one start since he was taken in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has 2.0 sacks, 6.0 tackles for loss, and five QB hits over the course of his four-year career.
The 49ers continue to add depth to the defensive line as they attempt to get it back up to the level it was in 2019, where it finished with the second-highest adjusted sack rate (9.0%) in the NFL.
