One rookie for the Kansas City Chiefs just revealed what his goals will be for the upcoming 2023 season.
The Chiefs drafted Felix Anudike-Uzomah, the defensive end from Kansas State, and the Kansas City native with their first pick in the draft, the 31st overall pick. The Chiefs needed some help on the outside at the edge position, especially since they got rid of Frank Clark to save $21 million in cap space.
Now, they are younger, cheaper, and possibly more talented at the position. Not to mention, the Chiefs are more set up for the future now at the edge position with George Karlaftis and Anudike-Uzomah.
For FAU, he has already reached and obtained one of his biggest goals, which is not only getting drafted, but the dream of getting drafted by his favorite team growing up.
“Oh yeah. Obviously, if you’re a Chiefs fan, especially a Chiefs fan growing up, you always have the dream of playing for the Kansas City Chiefs," FAU explained in his first presser after rookie minicamp practice. "That’s every young boy’s dream is to play for the Kansas City Chiefs. So, other than that, I’m happy to be and I’m honored to be able to fulfill the dream that a lot of people around Kansas City, Missouri, have a dream of.”
That's one goal out of the way, and while celebrating something as great as this is awesome, it's time to get to work, and FAU knows that. But, he also has some goals set, but it starts with one important thing in the offseason.
“Obviously, to start off now, I just want to learn the playbook and I just want to be present and learn from the guys that already won a Super Bowl," he said. "And if I have the opportunity to play or (to) start, anything like that, I’ll be gladly appreciative. But as of right now, I want to work on learning the playbook and work on getting tips from the older guys.”
The Chiefs and their fans will love to hear that, especially with him saying he will be grateful for whatever position he gets. This is a kid that is hungry, yes, but he is also grateful just to be a part of the organization he is in.
