The Indianapolis Colts are set for a new brand of football this upcoming football. It's a breath of fresh air for a franchise that has desperately needed some excitement since Andrew Luck called it a career a few years ago.

Shane Steichen takes over as head coach after leading the Philadelphia Eagles offense for the past two years. Steichen's style of offense led the league in rushing and unlocked Jalen Hurts, taking his game to another level.

Now, Steichen gets to work his magic with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. Richardson was the most athletic signal caller in the NFL Draft, and he features a dynamic play style that should fit in well under Steichen.

The new era will be tested right out of the gate. That's because the Indianapolis Colts will kick off the 2023 NFL season against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville is coming off a successful season that included winning the AFC South and advancing in the NFL Playoffs. Lawrence flashed his full potential under Doug Pederson, and the Jaguars have a lot of young talent.

Which sets the stage for the Colts to make some noise in week one. If Steichen and Richardson can pull the perceived upset over the Jaguars on its home turf, a big message will be sent to the rest of the league.

A message that a new era in Indianapolis is here. It would give the Colts an early upper edge in the division and some early season momentum that could carry fir weeks.

Obviously, a loss would not derail much of anything. However, a win could do wonders as Shane Steichen lays the foundation for long-term success with the Indianapolis Colts.
