The Las Vegas Raiders have a new addition that wants to play his former team in 2023, but not because of the reasons you think.

When the Las Vegas Raiders fired Jon Gruden, they brought in Josh McDaniels, because of his success with the New England Patriots, a franchise that it seems the Raiders are getting closer and closer with every day.

Since then, we have seen a ton of former Patriots players join the Raiders. Most of it has been guys who have played under Josh McDaniels, and others have been defensive guys that were there at the same time, like Chandler Jones.

One of those guys they added this offseason was Jakobi Meyers, the former Patriots wide receiver. Now he will be catching passes from another former Patriots guy in Jimmy Garoppolo as the wide receiver two in his former offensive system.

Being on the Raiders in 2023 means you play the Patriots in Week 6, and for a lot of former players from the New England system, that's a big game. For Meyers, it is too, but not for the reasons you would think. It isn't about revenge or anything like that.

"I got family over there, like real family who I practiced against, talked a lot of trash against for years. I'm just excited to finally get to go out there and we're going to see how all those practice reps against each other look like in a real game performance," he said on NFL Network. "It's going to be a lot of fun playing against old friends and seeing a lot of old people. I got it circled for those reasons."

The last time these two teams played each other was last season in Week 15, where the silver and black ended up winning in a crazy fashion. You may remember Meyers was actually the reason his team lost, as he lateralled the ball backward in a tie game, and it was intercepted by Chandler Jones for a touchdown.

Week 6 is when Meyers could have a good game to make up for that last game, even though he helped the Raiders win that one too. All jokes aside, this guy is going to be great in the offense, and is a legit number two receiver who can play all over the field.

What he is saying about playing the Patriots again means a lot, because you could tell when the Raiders won that game last season it meant a lot to McDaniels. When you come from that, beating the Patriots means something.
