The Las Vegas Raiders have a guy on their team who could have a potential breakout season in 2023 that would help with a lot of their problems.
I think we all know what the problem is that I'm talking about – the secondary. They may have one of if not the worst secondary's in the league, and for the Raiders to change that narrative, they need guys to step up. Prime Charles Woodson isn't walking through that door.
One guy who can step up and possibly have a breakout season based on some of the things we have seen is cornerback Tyler Hall.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: CB TYLER HALL It is yet to be seen how big of a role Hall can have on the Raiders' defense, as he is projected to be a backup cornerback in 2023. However, based on his play in 2022, he could very well earn some additional playing time and be expected to take advantage of that. He only played in the second half of the 2022 season and was on the field for just 218 snaps. Nevertheless, he earned the third-highest coverage grade among cornerbacks over the last eight weeks of the season. In addition, he allowed just 0.28 receiving yards per coverage snap, which was the lowest mark in the entire league. –Zoltán Buday, PFF
All of those stats tell enough about Hall to know that he has the potential to be good. Right now the depth chart is looking like he is behind Nate Hobbs, which is the best defensive back on the team and probably the second-best defensive player on the team.
For Hall to get some playing time, he may need to switch out of the nickel, which is what he currently plays. If he did one of the other spots, he would be behind D.J. Turner, and Duke Shelley, unless he beats them out in camp.
Hall can make a name for himself in 2023, but it all starts with OTAs and mandatory camps. I think he can do it, and I think he has an impressive 2023 outing.
