Anthony Richardson has the difficult task of being the face of a franchise before even playing his first NFL game. The Indianapolis Colts drafted Richardson out of Florida with hopes that he would solidify the most important position on the team.
Richardson is clearly a unique talent. He features a big frame and a cannon for an arm. He wins through the air with his arm talent, but he also is dangerous on the ground with his legs. He's the most athletic QB in the history of the NFL Combine.
Despite the lofty expectations that have already been set, Richardson is taking a mature approach. He's focused on improving his own game and perfecting his craft. His recent comments will fire up the Colts fan base.
That's because Richardson already sees the bigger picture. He knows that the hype does not mean anything when the game is being played. Therefore, he views Tom Brady as the standard.
"Growing up, I always thought about Tom Brady and the way he worked," said Richardson. "He has seven rings. People say he’s the greatest, but I’ve always heard he’s constantly trying to get better day by day. And I thought about that, like, how can a guy that great try and get better every single day?"
With that said, Richardson is confident in his own abilities. He believes that his talent has put himself in the position that he is in now. But he is hungry to continue getting better.
“I’m here for a reason,” Richardson said after OTAs this week. “I work hard, I put the work in, and obviously, I showcased that I can be a huge talent. But there’s a lot of things I can clean up."
Anthony Richardson has the talent to become a legitimate franchise quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. When you add in his mindset, the sky is the limit for the first-round rookie.
