The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of one of the franchise’s most successful regular seasons in history. Though the Eagles fell one win short of the Super Bowl last year, ESPN’s projections believe Philadelphia has a strong chance at redemption in 2023.
ESPN’s Football Power Index calculates each team’s chances of making the playoffs, winning their division, reaching certain rounds in the postseason and even winning the Super Bowl. While the offseason slowly trudges along, let’s see where the Lions stand in in the eyes of ESPN’s FPI.
When it comes to making the playoffs, the Eagles shouldn’t have too much trouble. In fact, ESPN’s FPI gives the Birds the best chance in the NFL to make it to the postseason at 80.8 percent.
The 49ers (79.4%) and Chiefs (77.3%) rank just behind them, while the Cowboys are the closest NFC East team at 65.1 percent (8th in NFL).
As far as odds to win the division go, the Eagles aren’t considered a lock in ESPN’s eyes. Philly commands a 51.5 percent chance to sit atop the NFC East’s throne yet again. Though it might not seem as high as Eagles fans would probably expect, Philadelphia has the fourth-strongest odds to bring home a divisional crown next season
The rest of the NFC East goes as follows, according to FPI:
Dallas Cowboys – 29.4%
New York Giants – 12.5%
Washington Commanders – 6.6% (Second-worst in NFL)
It wouldn’t be right to wrap this up without mentioning the Eagles’ chances to win the Super Bowl. The Birds lead the NFL with a 13.9 percent chance to bring home the Lombardi Trophy, as well as a staggering 25.5 percent shot to play in Super Bowl LBVIII.
