As good teams are known to, the Philadelphia Eagles are doing their due diligence in creating competition at the tight end position.

The team agreed to a one-year deal with veteran tight end Dan Arnold in a move that was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Arnold, 28, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He has carved out a decent career. His best season came with the Cardinals in 2020, when he caught 31 passes for 438 yards and four touchdowns.

Recently, Arnold played with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He appeared in all 17 games, but he only caught nine passes for 135 yards. He appeared in roughly 15 percent of Jaguars' snaps.

Philadelphia's tight end room is already led by Dallas Goedert. However, the main criticism of Philadelphia is the lack of depth at the tight end position after Goedert. Arnold, if he makes the roster, could add that coveted depth.

Arnold isn't a guarantee to make the 53-man roster, but he makes the training camp position battles interesting. His signing indicates that Philadelphia still isn't completely sure about the names it has on its roster at tight end.
