While the Philadelphia Eagles may be a bit of an exception due to their recent Super Bowl win, Philadelphia sports have been cursed in recent years with professional sports teams that are great in the regular season but fail to win it all when it matters.
Were it not for that previously-mentioned Super Bowl win, Philadelphia as a whole would be one of the few cities in the United States with so much professional sports talent that just couldn't win trophies.
During a time where it felt like everything was going Philly's way, the 76ers and NBA MVP Joel Embiid have just fallen to the Boston Celtics in a heartbreak and embarrassing Game 7 loss.
The Celtics were the better team from the start, but one has to wonder how the MVP was able to do so little with the season on the line after receiving so much support for the prestigious award during the second half of the season.
Regardless, the city go Philadelphia might be down for now, but the Eagles have a great opportunity to right this wrong if they can take the right steps in 2023.
From a schedule that works well with highs and lows to prepare the team for the postseason to one of the best quarterbacks in the league on a team-friendly roster with some the best offensive weapons in the league, the Eagles have everything they need to avenge their comrades on the basketball court.
Will they? That much remains to be seen. It looked like 2022 was Philly's year on the football field already. Still, that year is in the past, and if the focus is living up to expectations, this Eagles team absolutely has to show up this year and win the Super Bowl if the city is going to escape the allegations that it can only show up in the regular season.
