The Broncos may have had a terrible season in 2022, where they were basically unwatchable, but this year will be different. It will be a completely different offense and a possibly different defense. Does that mean they will be better? Not necessarily. But, the moves they made this offseason make them better on paper.
It's easy to beat the product they put on the field last year. They had the worst offense in all of football, and the only thing that kept them from being the worst team in football was their top-10 defense.
Now in 2023, I think we see an improved offense. I think we see a lot of 12 personnel with Sean Payton as the head coach now, which will only set up Russell Wilson to have some success. That also means it will set up the Broncos to be a fun team again. Who knows, maybe their offense is good enough to beat the Chiefs finally.
They always play Kansas City close, and this could be the year they snap the long losing streak of their biggest rival ever. One Broncos' expert thinks they will have a "must-watch" game against the Broncos in 2023.
Denver Broncos: at Chiefs, Week 6 Sean Payton has inherited a Bro1101222ncos team that hasn’t beaten the Chiefs since 2015, a string of 13 straight losses. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes has never lost to the Broncos since entering the league in 2017, and the two-time MVP who now owns two Super Bowl rings has never lost an AFC West road game in his career. But the torturous streak has to end at some point, right? A long-awaited victory against the Chiefs, particularly at Arrowhead, would go a long way toward snapping Denver’s other ignominious streak: six consecutive seasons with a losing record. — Nick Kosmider, The Athletic
The Chiefs are the defending champions, and they kind of got better in the offseason, so beating them won't be easy, but it is definitely doable. The Broncos came close both times last year, including the first game where they scored 21 straight unanswered points in the first half.
By Week 6 we will have a little idea of who this team is and just how much of a chance the Broncos will have to end that streak. Hopefully, by that time things look much better than they did last year.
