Most NFL teams use the third day of the NFL Draft for dart throws. Such as, players who are superb athletes, but their film is lacking. Or, players who have incredible traits, but they didn't produce a ton in college, etc. etc.
The Seattle Seahawks recently found success on Day 3 of the NFL Draft in 2022 and man, was it impressive.
Namely with Tariq Woolen, who went on to finish the year third in the running for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. They also found success with Coby Bryant, who played in all 17 games and racked up 70 total tackles, four pass deflections, 2.0 sacks, four forced fumbles, and 4.0 tackles for loss.
The Seahawks could be on track to extend the impressive trend in 2023. In a recent article for NFL.com, draft analyst Chad Reuter highlighted a batch of Day 3 rookies who could have an immediate impact this year.
The Seahawks were on there not just once, but twice.
G Anthony Bradford is the first Seahawk to make the list
Both players have something in common in the idea that the Seahawks released veteran starters ahead of drafting them. For Bradford, it was Gabe Jackson's release that has him in line to compete for starting snaps by Day 1.
The Seahawks have also been very open about how they expect Bradford to compete for starting snaps, as well.
The Seahawks are really trying to revamp the interior offensive line after a disappointing 2022 season and Bradford figures to be a big part of the "rebuild", so to speak.
DL Cameron Young is the second name on the list
Why could Young have an immediate impact?
The Seahawks lost Al Woods to the Jets, Quinton Jefferson to the Jets, and Poona Ford to Buffalo during free agency this off-season.
Per Ourlads only Bryan Mone is ahead of Young on the depth chart.
Young is a very good run defender who can clog up gaps and free up edge rushers for more one on one opportunities.
Mone's dead cap hit is only one million if he is cut, so if Young proves his value, there is no guarantee Mone is even on the team heading into the season.
