Seattle Seahawks part ways with one of their own former draft picks just days into training camp
Things haven’t turned out the way anyone had hoped between the Seattle Seahawks and RB Kenny McIntosh.
It’s been a tough year for running back Kenny McIntosh. The Seattle Seahawks back suffered a torn ACL just over one year ago.
His path back to health has been a challenging one, too. McIntosh started this year’s training camp in Seattle on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after missing the entirety of Seattle’s championship season. He won’t be apart of an encore in 2026, either. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Seahawks waived McIntosh to start this week.
The Seattle Seahawks release running back Kenny McIntosh
McIntosh was a 7th-round draft choice by Seattle back in the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s played in just 2o games over that period of time — a strong single statistic that reflects his time with Seattle. But he was a productive college player who broke out during his senior season with the Georgia Bulldogs. He was both an involved player in the passing game and an effective runner. He logged 12 touchdowns from scrimmage that season.
Seattle never got to see that version of him. Now, McIntosh is going to have to hope he’s healthy enough to land on his feet elsewhere. Subsequently, he’ll need to do something he’s done only once in his pro career (play all 17 games) to ignite a market moving forward.
It’s the sobering reality for many NFL players. The Seattle Seahawks will move on. And they’ve got options, too. Zach Charbonnet is recovering from his own ACL team, the team drafted a first-round running back in Jadarian Price, and the team tabbed a potential gem in Emanuel Wilson from Green Bay in free agency. Seattle’s backfield is in good hands. And McIntosh will likely get another chance elsewhere. But he’s going to need to make the most of it or else he’s on borrowed time.
