One of the Tennessee Vols' top remaining 2024 recruiting targets has officially set a commitment date.
2024 four-star cornerback Cai Bates announced this week that he plans to commit on July 26 at 6:30 PM ET.
Bates, 6-foot-1/180 lbs from Orlando, FL, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 11 cornerback in the nation and the No. 14 player in the state of Florida. He's also ranked as the No. 107 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
The talented cornerback will be choosing between Alabama, Colorado, Florida State, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Ohio State.
Bates recently told On3 that he has a good relationship with the coaches at Tennessee and he feels like he'd have an opportunity to play early with the Vols.
"The coaching staff at Tennessee looks out for me as well," said Bates. "I have a really good relationship with them. I would have the opportunity to play early to play there, too. They have a lot of senior defensive backs leaving, so the opportunity to play early is definitely there."
Tennessee and LSU appear to be the teams to beat in this recruiting battle. The Vols need as much talent at cornerback as they can get which makes this a recruiting battle they badly want to win.
The Vols currently have 16 players committed to their 2024 recruiting class which is ranked No. 15 in the nation.
