One of the Kansas City Chiefs' running backs missed the Super Bowl parade, but he had a good reason.

When it came time for the Super Bowl, Clyde Edwards-Helaire had not played since Week 10. When he got injured, seventh-round rookie running back Isiah Pacheco stole CEH's job. Pacheco went on to rush for over 800 yards, topping any season CEH has ever had.

But then there were rumors that CEH would return and be ready for the Super Bowl.

"I practiced that week — the whole week," Edwards-Helaire told the media. "I played receiver that week. I played the [Z-receiver] and the zebra — pretty much every position except quarterback and O-line throughout that week. So I was, in my mind, thinking that I [would play].

"I mean, I got activated like Tuesday or Wednesday of that week; I really don't know. But initially, it was just going out there [to Arizona, but I] didn't think I was playing… I also did scout team. I was DeVonta Smith for the defense. So I did everything that I needed to do in order for us to win that game. And that's just what it was. They called my number, and I was out there."

We didn't see CEH in the Super Bowl. We saw Pacheco rush for 76 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs won, but CEH had to feel some way after everything he went through during the season.

So, when he didn't show up at the Super Bowl parade in downtown Kansas City, along with Eric Bieniemy, who was on his way out, fans and media thought something was up, including myself. How do you miss the Super Bowl parade, especially considering it was his first one, as he wasn't on the team in 2019?

However, CEH had a good reason and assured everyone it wasn't out of spite. There were no hard feelings, and he didn't want out of Kansas City. He had something he had to do.

"That was, man, I want to say, probably three of four months prior to that, I kind of made an obligation," he said. "I remember laughing with it. I was like, 'Man, I wish [if] we're going to win the Super Bowl, like, why we don't have the parade on this date schedule?' And I said that would have been dope.

"I'm not going to verbally give somebody my 'Yes' or give them that 'A-OK' — and then back out on them two days before. I wasn't raised on that, with how my dad and how my mom are."

You love that CEH is that way, where he stands on his word, and if he told someone he would do something months before, he has to do it. Fans love loyalty, and you can tell CEH is exactly that.

It has to feel much better for fans and media to know that CEH wasn't skipping because he was upset. I mean, he's a Super Bowl champion on the best franchise in the league; how could he be upset?
