The Denver Broncos have some new versions of players coming into the 2023 season, but the biggest news is how Russell Wilson looks.

He had a terrible year in 2022, easily his worst ever. However, that happens; players make mistakes, and bad seasons happen. It's more about how you respond than what happened before. When the media first got a look at Wilson this offseason, you could see that he wasn't letting that season define him.

Wilson put in the work this summer.

"I feel great. I feel lean and mean, ready to go and focused," Wilson told the media earlier this offseason. "I'm not worried about that… I'm not counting, but all I know is I'm excited to play again."

While getting in better shape is great, and we all love to see it, that wasn't his issue last season. Wilson had trouble making throws, running the offense, and just IQ things overall. Will get in better shape help? Of course, it will.

We know Wilson has a work ethic, and we know he is a guy that will do whatever he needs to do to fix his offseason issues. In this case, he is still being himself.

"Russ has still got the same work ethic he's had his whole career," Jerry Jeudy told reporters Thursday. "He's probably just slimmed down a little bit. Other than that, Russ is still being Russ."

We often forget how crazy of an offseason the Broncos and Wilson had last offseason. One thing that gets swept under the rug a lot is Wison's former personal quarterback coach passing away. He had never not had him since being a professional football player, so that impacted him somewhat.

He was also being thrust into an offensive system he had never played in before, with a rookie coach and a new receiver group. That has a ton to do with it too. Sure, he was bad, and there needs to be some responsibility taken, but there are important factors too.
