Former Tennessee Vols basketball standout Grant Williams was majorly trolled by the internet this week, but the joke was really on everyone that was doing the trolling.
Williams, a former first-round pick by the Boston Celtics who has carved out a spot in the NBA as a key role player, was one of the guests this week at a lavish July 4 party in the Hamptons that was thrown by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin.
Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Jack Harlow, Kevin Durant, and Jennifer Lopez were among some of the high-profile guests as the star-studded event.
When internet users noticed that Williams was at the party, they immediately started roasting the former Vol. Essentially, they didn't feel like Williams was famous enough to be on the guest list for the massive party.
Here's a sampling of the tweets — one of which also took at a shot at former UT basketball star Tobias Harris (who was also at the party) — that poked fun at Williams (via Sports Illustrated).

Those internet users can laugh all they want, but Williams was the one at the party with some of the most famous people on the planet. And he's the one who has already made just shy of $12 million during his NBA career (which spans four years so far).
So while those fans are tweeting insults at Williams, he's rubbing shoulders with Jay-Z, Kevin Hart, and Beyonce.
I doubt those "mean tweets" will be hurting Williams' feelings.
