The Tennessee Vols are in the mix for one of the nation's top-rated 2024 running backs.
Four-star running back Braylen Russell included Tennessee among his top three schools this week, along with the Arkansas Razorbacks and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Russell plans to announce his commitment on July 14 at 7:30 PM ET.
Russell, 6-foot-2/240 lbs from Benton, AR, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 24 running back in the nation and the No. 5 player in the state of Arkansas. He's also rated as the No. 287 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
The feeling is that this battle is really down to Arkansas and Tennessee. Russell was previously committed to the Razorbacks and the allure of playing close to home could certainly be a big factor in his final decision.
Tennessee, however, received Russell's final official visit before his decision and that usually bodes well for a program.
The Vols currently have 15 players committed to their 2024 recruiting class which is ranked No. 12 in the nation.
