Derek Carr is the new sheriff in town for the New Orleans Saints, and that comes with huge shoes to fill with the legacy that future Hall of Famer Drew Brees left behind.

It's been back-to-back missed playoff appearances for the Saints. However, with an uptick in quarterback play from a season ago courtesy of Carr, and a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team without Tom Brady, New Orleans is in a prime spot to take the NFC South back.

One NFL insider, Jeff Darlington, thinks Carr will come right in and get things back to basics.

"I think Derek Carr changes the whole culture in New Orleans back to what it was with Drew Brees," Darlington said on Friday's episode of Get Up

The culture Brees brought through his play on the field but also off of it.

Brees was a regular in the community with his Brees Dream foundation that he established back in 2003, dominating countless millions to help the less fortunate.

Carr is also cut from that same cloth. He has a charity as well called DC4KIDS which focuses on making sure that children live in healthy communities.

Of course, Carr was brought in to play great football at the quarterback position. Well, Brees mentioned a few months ago that Carr has a chance to shine immensely, and there's one specific reason why.

"I think it's a great fit for him, a great fit for the Saints," Brees said. "I've always been impressed with Derek Carr.

"In many cases, you're going to the line of scrimmage with multiple plays and the ability to check in and out of those plays. Jon Gruden's offense, which is what he came up in, was the same offense we run – that west coast style."

The Saints have reworked the deal of wide receiver Michael Thomas, brought in A.T. Perry in the NFL Draft, signed tight end Foster Moreau, and added running backs, Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller. So Carr will have plenty of weapons to get the Saints' offense back to being a respected unit in 2023.
