Deebo Samuel can't seem to keep the Philadelphia Eagles out of his mouth.

In an interview Monday with CBS Sports Radio host Zach Gelb, Samuel sent a message to the Eagles, who beat his San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in the NFL Playoffs at the end of the 2022 season.

And in that message, Samuel said he would finally stop talking about the Eagles, instead opting for the on-field product to do most of the heavy lifting when it came to narratives.

The Eagles will host the 49ers in a Week 13 rematch of the NFC championship game during the 2023 season, but Samuel didn’t have any predictions to offer.

“I don’t know. Just wait until Week 13, 12, whatever week it is, and we’ll show you,” Samuel said.

The interview would end abruptly not long after that answer.

Samuel's coyness surrounding the Eagles is a new development.

Back in February, he appeared on Sirius XM’s “Mad Dog Sports Radio” and said the 49ers would’ve beaten the Eagles by double digits if quarterback Brock Purdy hadn’t been injured. In May, he told Complex magazine he was tired of all the Eagles’ trash talk, telling the magazine, “We lost because we played with 10 people.”

Whether the change in the narrative surrounding Samuel is intentional or not is beside the point. He is finally doing what the Eagles have begged him to do for so long — stop talking.

There is no love lost between these two teams. And by Week 13, both teams could be playing for more than just an on-field win.
