The Philadelphia Eagles' defense must grow from within during training camp ahead of the 2023 NFL season.

That means one thing: The team will turn to Josh Sweat for continued improvement.

Sweat, entering his sixth season in the NFL, seems to only be getting better. In 2022, he played in and started 16 games and collected 11 sacks, 48 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, and 23 quarterback hits.

Looking at a breakdown of his career thus far, Sweat has improved slightly in every season he has played.

He was asked about what he plans to work on heading into the season earlier in the spring, and to that question, he didn't have a direct answer.

“I don’t know,” Sweat said. “I mean, I’m trying to get better. Just refine my technique. Just keep doing the things that have worked. Just building on it and doing it more."

The good news for Philadelphia is that Sweat's improvements come after he signed an extension to stay with the team in 2021. For his production, it can be seen as a good-value contract that was signed then. His deal was a three-year extension worth $40 million and his $13.3 million APY ranks 20th in the NFL among edge rushers.

After losing key pieces to the defense, the production of Sweat will be massive for the Eagles who are trying to not only get back to a Super Bowl but win it this time.
