An elite 2024 four-star recruit included the Tennessee Vols among his top three schools on Monday.
Four-star offensive lineman Marques Easley revealed a top three that included Tennessee, along with Alabama and Oklahoma.
Easley, 6-foot-5/335 lbs from Kankakee, IL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 17 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 5 player in the state of Illinois.
Scouting report via 247Sports: True offensive tackle prospect who did play defense and basketball earlier in his career but at his size is now a full-fledged prototype tackle. Can project to either side but mans the left side in high school. Gets off the ball and into the second level well for a big man. Keeps his feet on contact and drives defenders out of plays. Can still be more consistent with pad level. Has the desired tools in pass pro as far as feet, length and the strength to hold off bull rushers. In general, he is still developing and getting more refined but improved a lot between sophomore and junior year and is moving in the right direction. Has the upside to be a starting tackle at a high major program and play beyond college.
The massive offensive lineman recently took a visit to Tennessee and according to GoVols247, he received a recruiting pitch from former Vols standout Darnell Wright.
A recruiting pitch from Wright could go a long way in the battle for Easley. Wright, after all, played two years under Vols head coach Josh Heupel. And he was selected by the Chicago Bears with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Wright can tell Easley exactly what to expect at Tennessee and he can explain to Easley how playing under Heupel helped improve his NFL Draft stock.
Georgia, despite not being included in Easley's top three, is a program to watch in this battle as well. The Bulldogs might have some other offensive linemen ahead of Easley on their recruiting board, but it sounds like they're still in the mix for the Illinois native.
Tennessee currently has 12 players committed to their 2024 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 13 in the nation.
Hendon Hooker addresses a false narrative that’s followed him since his days at Virginia Tech
There's a false narrative that's been following Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker around since his days at Virginia Tech. It hasn't come up much this season, thanks to the strong play of Hooker and the Vols, but it's still something that's been out there for years. And Hooker, for lack of better phrasing, is tired […]
