There's nothing better than seeing young players who desire to make it to the NFL get their dreams realized.
That's exactly what Tyler Richardson, a cornerback out of Tiffin is trying to do later this month. Richardson was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio which is just three hours from Tiffin. So, Richardson is an Ohio kid through and through.
Richardson took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that he has a workout next week with the Bengals. The homegrown product stated that all he wants to do is showcase his skills and represent his home the city right way.
Richardson played four years for the Dragons. His first year was successful with 30 tackles, eight pass breakups, and an interception. After a COVID-19-shortened season in 2020 in which he played in just six games, Richardson only totaled eight tackles with a pass breakup, but he did snag two interceptions.
He didn't log any more interceptions at Tiffin, but Richardson's final two seasons were productive.
Richardson logged a career-high 46 tackles in 2021 along with four pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He would close his collegiate career with 28 tackles and five pass breakups.
During his career at Tiffin, Richardson was a three-time All-G-MAC performer.
The next step for Richardson was to show out as his Pro Day. He ran in the high 4.4's in the 40-yard dash and measured in at 5'10".
Cincinnati has added safety Nick Scott and cornerback Sidney Jones IV this offseason, but still need more in the draft. Richardson is likely a late Day 3 or possibly an undrafted free agent.
This would be such a feel-good story if Richardson were to turn this workout with the Bengals into landing on their roster this year and returning to his hometown.
