The Minnesota Vikings are beefing up the middle of their defense with their latest signing.
On Friday, the Vikings made the signing of LB Troy Reeder official, per Aaron Wilson. Reeder was initially inked to a on March 22, but the move was made official as Vikings offseason activities are set to begin on Monday.
An undrafted free agent out of Penn State, Reeder spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams. In 2022, he played in 68 percent of the Rams’ special teams snaps while logging six percent of the team’s defensive snaps.
Reeder, 28, played a major factor in the Rams’ 2021 Super Bowl run. He started in 10 games that season and all three of the Ram’s playoff games leading up to the Super Bowl.
It’s often said that the best ability is availability, and that is a trait the Rams never had to worry about with Reeder. He’s yet to miss a game since emerging from training camp in 2019.
In 66 career games, Reeder has registered 241 tackles, 11 TFLs, five sacks, three forced fumble and two interceptions. He will likely slot in as a rotational linebacker with a major role on special teams for the Vikings in 2023.
