Much of the 2023 NFL Draft discourse has been about the quarterback class.

Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis headline a class that is generally liked, but none of the players seem like the surefire prospects of years past.

According to one national media outlet, there is only one "generational talent," in this draft, and it's not who you think it is.

Mike Renner is the lead draft analyst at Pro Football Focus. Recently, Renner constructed a team consisting of the best prospects that have ever been scouted by PFF (since 2014).

Bijan Robinson came out as the top running back, even above Saquon Barkley.

Max Chadwick, also of PFF, wrote a piece ranking each position group in the 2023 NFL Draft by how good the best player at that position is.

Well, thanks to Robinson, the running back position took the top spot in the rankings.

Chadwick said the following regarding Robinson:

PFF’s lead draft analyst Mike Renner recently constructed a team of the best prospects since we began charting college football in 2014. Robinson was listed as the top running back, even above 2018’s No. 2 overall pick Saquon Barkley. That means you might even have to go back to Adrian Peterson (2007) to find a better running back prospect than Robinson. This year, he broke the PFF College record for the most forced missed tackles in a season (104) while his 39% career forced missed tackle rate is tied with Javonte Williams for the best.

Robinson’s the only prospect in the 2023 class where the “generational” label truly applies.

Could the Eagles be interested in the "generational" running back? I believe they should be.

Yes, the team brought in Rashaad Penny in free agency and still has Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott. However, Penny has missed time in each season, and Gainwell and Scott are not good enough to prevent a running back from being drafted.

The Eagles already have an elite-level offense. A dynamic RB like Robinson could allow the Eagles to take the next leap.

Robinson had a whoppin 6.1 yards per rush in 2022, and finished the season with 1,580 rushing yards, 18 rushing TDs, and 19 receptions. The former Longhorn is quick and shifty, but can also bulldoze defenders. Robinson is a true three-down back who never has to leave the field.

The Eagles are in the fortunate position of having two first-round picks, but neither spot seems like the spot to grab Robinson. The 10th pick could possibly be too early to draft the RB, as the current state of the NFL makes it hard to justify such an investment.

However, Robinson will almost definitely be gone well before the Eagles' next pick at No. 30.

A recent mock from CBS Sports has the Eagles trading back to No. 14 and selecting Robinson there. For teams picking in the top 12 who don't need a QB, trading back could be the preferred choice in this draft.

Final Thoughts: Bijan Robinson could be the only "generational" player in the 2023 NFL Draft, according to PFF. The Eagles are in the fortunate position of not having many pressing needs, so the team could afford to use a pick on a player like Robinson. Due to Rashaad Penny's injury history, RB could still be a need in Philly.
