When it comes to the Las Vegas Raiders and the first round of the NFL Draft, they haven't been a good pair as of late. I'm sure we have all seen the list of guys drafted in the first round that didn't work out, so I don't need to remind you. This draft is a must-hit for the Raiders.
Having the seventh pick doesn't lower the pressure any either. They can go, quarterback, defensive tackle, defensive end, or secondary. They have options, but it's more so about whether they make the right decision.
One NFL analyst for CBS Sports thinks the Raiders could move up in the draft. For a team that is already at seven, moving up would only give them more options.
Las Vegas Raiders (No. 7 overall)
In my first-round mock draft, it's the Raiders I have moving up to No. 3 overall. Jimmy Garoppolo didn't receive big-time money to join Josh McDaniels in Vegas, and he's not exactly a spring chicken. Coach McDaniels likely doesn't have a long leash, so jumping up to secure the potential stud who could star in Sin City for years to come is something that could happen. It's probably not a possibility the entire fan base is in love with, but it's a possibility nonetheless.
If the Raiders do indeed move up, it will likely be with the Arizona Cardinals, a team that already has a quarterback but has the third pick. The top projected picks are supposed to be quarterbacks, so they can afford to move back and trade with a team who needs that pick.
Now, the Raiders don't need a quarterback either, but they want one. They want a guy who can take over when Jimmy Garoppolo is hurt, and take over when his contract is up. If they do trade up to three, I think they will take a quarterback.
