"Content" is one of the most dangerous states of being in sports.

Teams are certainly allowed a moment to be happy from immense success, but content players and franchises aren't winning Super Bowls.

The Philadelphia Eagles were good in 2022, great by most accounts, but this team should be as far from content as possible after dropping the Super Bowl against the Chiefs.

You don't get over a loss like this by being content, you get over it by being aggressive, taking chances, and always looking for ways to get better at the right positions.

Philly has done a good job of this so far this offseason, but that doesn't mean there aren't other ways to get better.

As it stands, the craziest move that would give the Eagles the best offense in the NFL by a mile is signing DeAndre Hopkins if/when he becomes a free agent.

"But the Eagles already have one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL!"

Yes. And?

Did this team set records in scoring last season? When the rubber met the road and it became an offensive game in the Super Bowl, would it have helped to have the best trio of wide receivers in the NFL?

You can argue that it was defense and some bad calls that lost the Super Bowl for the Eagles, but getting even better on offense has a way of equalizing all.

Hopkins does look poised to become a free agent, and the Eagles should absolutely be interested in a way to add a more proven third option than Quez Watkins and his 354 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.

Hopkins would be a ridiculous upgrade over Watkins that would make the Eagles next to impossible to plan for.

Look at the Buccaneers in 2020 with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown. Why stay put with two when there is a third guy out there that makes the offense even better?

Watkins simply hasn't taken the right strides forward to cement himself as a true WR3 on par with the rest of the offense.

Weak links don't make strong chains.

A team with a great quarterback, offensive line, and wide receiver room can do almost anything in the modern NFL. Teams that find a way to claim they are the best at a combination of these positions set themselves apart even further, and the Eagles finding a way to add an All-Pro certainly helps towards that end.

It may seem like overkill, but going after DeAndre Hopkins does give the Eagles a better shot at winning a Super Bowl in 2023, and they should consider all moves with that goal in mind.
