The Kansas City Chiefs may have picked up a new pass rusher in the offseason in Charles Omenihu, but they still need some help in that department. Luckily, even with the 31st pick in the draft, they can still get one.

They need a guy to replace what Frank Clark brought and build the foundation of the pass rush around with George Karlaftis on the edge. They can do that with the perfect pick at 31, and one ESPN analyst has them picking the guy most Chiefs' fans and media want. Some just don't think he will be available.

Mel Kiper's pick: Will McDonald IV, OLB, Iowa State

Here's another team that can afford to take the best prospect available. The Chiefs selected defensive end George Karlaftis in Round 1 last year, and you can think of McDonald as a complement to Karlaftis' skill set. McDonald is a speed rusher who will wreck offensive tackles in pass situations.

Kiper seems to think he will be available for the Chiefs to pick. If he is there, they have to get him. McDonald is one of the best edge rushers in the draft, and he could be a part of an elite duo on the edge with Karlaftis.

Here is what Pro Football Focus thinks of Will McDonald:

McDonald will be one of the more interesting defensive line prospects in the class because his tape is almost all at a position that he won't play in the NFL. He was frequently a four- or five-technique in Iowa State’s defense at 236 pounds. McDonald is at his best in space off the edge, where he can be a speed rusher. He earned an 84.1 pass-rushing grade in 2022 and an 85.3 mark in 2021.

The Chiefs' defense would be loaded over the next few years if they were able to pair McDonald with the guys up front.
