The Buffalo Bills traded up in the 2023 NFL Draft to get arguably the best tight end in the entire class. Former Utah TE Dalton Kincaid will look to make an immediate impact on the roster.
While Kincaid has all the intangibles to succeed in the NFL, it will be up to Ken Dorsey to help fully unlock his entire potential. Bills Mafia, initially, was a little concerned after seeing a less-than-ideal product from Dorsey last season.
Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid will look to complement one another and wreak havoc on opposing defenses. Mel Kiper, during the draft coverage, talked about how Kincaid is a seam-killer and is more of a glorified wide receiver than a tight end.
Kincaid, in fact, has a reasonable chance to break a franchise record. While nothing is certain and there's no guarantee Kincaid will be a sure thing, he's been put in a position to succeed with one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Dalton Kincaid has a chance to break the Bills' single-season receiving record from a rookie tight end. The previous record is held by Tommy Hunter in 1983 in which he ended his rookie campaign with 402 yards. With the extra game and the pass-first offense Buffalo deploys, Kincaid has a real chance to break the record.
Again, it will all come down to what Ken Dorsey is able to achieve with the talented young tight end. Currently, Dawson Knox is one of the highest-paid tight ends in the NFL. Stefon Diggs has earned the lion's share of targets and the team needs to keep feeding Gabe Davis. If Kincaid isn't able to break the record it could just be the fact that there weren't enough targets to go around.
Having too many options on offense is never a bad thing. Here's hoping the team is able to get the most out of their offense and all their weapons next season.
