The Philadelphia Eagles have managed to anger the rest of the NFL this week.
It's not Philly's fault — it stems from the great week they had at the 2023 NFL Draft.
Apparently, some rival executives aren't happy with all the positive attention that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman received during the draft.
According to NFL Network's Peter Schrager, some executives around the NFL are becoming annoyed with the praise that Roseman has been receiving.
I'm not sure what the issue is here other than those executives coming up short in their own attempts to improve their team's situation while Roseman is putting everyone else to shame.
The longtime member of the Eagles' front office has built a monster in Philadelphia. The Eagles look poised to compete for Super Bowls for years to come. And they have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the Kansas City Chiefs, the presumed Super Bowl favorites next season, thanks to Roseman's savvy moves.
Philly's 2023 draft haul will only serve to widen the gap between the Eagles and their competition in the NFC.
The fact that the defending Super Bowl champions walked away from the draft with impact defensive players like Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith, along with a first-round talent in Kelee Ringo (a player the Eagles landed in the fourth round) is truly ridiculous. It just shows that Roseman is operating at a different level than many of the general managers and front-office members around the league.
If rival executives want to be annoyed, they should start with their own scouting departments. The praise for Roseman is deserved. The Eagles, after all, are going to be the favorites to win the NFC again in 2023. And that's because of the roster that Roseman has built.
Maybe if those executives want the praise for Roseman to end they should just…draft better than him? It sounds silly, but that's really what it boils down to for those that are complaining about Roseman's remarkable drafting skills.
