It might not be easy to emulate overall success, but finding a way to copy the best moves from champions is an easy way for teams to take the steps towards greatness.

The Philadelphia Eagles were very close this past year, but falling short of winning the Super Bowl will have this front office back to the drawing board in search of ways to find success in 2023 and beyond.

The easiest way to do this is to look at the Kansas City Chiefs and their best move since drafting Patrick Mahomes.

Drafting Mahomes will always be an exceptional move by a great front office, but more impressive than that is paying him and getting him locked in for a long-term, team-friendly deal.

Mahomes looked like he broke the bank when he was originally given a contract that looked like it was worth every bit of the half a billion dollars that was printed in the headlines, but now, that deal looks like a massive steal for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs still have the best quarterback in the league for a long time to come, and the best part of this deal is that he is cheaper on a per-year basis than other quarterbacks that are a massive downgrade in quality.

It's not rocket science. Do you have a good quarterback that you trust? Pay them well, lock them down long-term, and then use the time as a way to spread out cap hits and stay ahead of a market that continues to skyrocket.

This can all be said for Jalen Hurts and his MVP-worthy season in 2022.

Hurts' upcoming contract has been a massive point of discussion within the NFL over the past few months, and one anonymous exec believes this new deal will be on par with Mahomes' current deal.

This would be a bold move based solely on the still-small sample size for Hurts and one season of unbelievable play, but it would absolutely be the right move if this front office is convinced they can get anything close to years like this out of Hurts for the next decade.

The Eagles would have their franchise quarterback at a perfect price for a long time (or until both sides decide to restructure) and this would free them up financially in ways that will keep the team out of the red without giving up staying competitive.

There are worse things that the Eagles could do with a player like Jalen Hurts. Perhaps a Patrick Mahomes-type deal could lead to Patrick Mahomes-type success.
