The Indianapolis Colts' need at quarterback is well-documented. There is no question that Chris Ballard and Shane Steichen must come away with a franchise quarterback this offseason.

Indianapolis is expected to take a signal caller in the first-round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Colts currently hold the No. 4 overall selection, but sit behind the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans – two QB-needy teams – in the order.

Therefore, there was some thought that the Colts could explore a trade for Lamar Jackson. Jackson would solve several of the Colts' question marks behind center. However, the lates NFL news likely puts that speculation to rest.

Odell Beckham Jr. signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. OBJ had been on the free agent market since helping the Los Angeles Rams win the Super Bowl two seasons ago. Now, he's seemingly ready to get back into action.

And Lamar Jackson is thrilled about the news. Jackson now has a proven, big-name target to throw the ball to in key moments. Assuming that he remains with the Ravens after requesting a trade last month.

This does not formally end Jackson's request to be traded to a new team. Not until the former MVP and franchise can agree to terms on a lofty contract extension. Still, it doesn't bode well for the Colts.

Fortunately, the NFL Draft is just a few short weeks away. And it looks like the Indianapolis Colts are comfortable with the top four signal callers in the class. Most notably, Indianapolis has held private workouts with Anthony Richardson and Will Levis.

So while the Colts will likely not be trading for the MVP passer, all hope is not lost. The Indianapolis Colts could very well have the next face of their franchise by the end of the month. And that's exciting.
