When the Philadelphia Eagles granted quarterback Jalen Hurts a historic contract, Hurts knew he was valued.

In total, Hurts' deal is worth $255 million over five years. $179.4 million of that total amount is guaranteed, according to Spotrac. It isn't like Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's fully guaranteed contract, but it was a market reset-style deal that has Hurts — and Eagles fans — excited for what is to come.

For Hurts, however, it wasn't necessarily about the amount of money or how much is guaranteed. In his mind, it was solely about solidifying Philadelphia's championship window.

"Money is nice. Championships are better," Hurts said."You look at all the great teams with great players — it takes a village… We got something special going on."

No one should have expected anything different from Hurts, who has practically coined the phrase: "Keep the main thing, the main thing."

With a quarterback as talented as Hurts under contract for the foreseeable future, Philadelphia's championship window is wide open.

Already, Hurts represents a quarterback that forces opposing defenses to make tough decisions. His improved arm accuracy, coupled with his near-constant threat as a runner, makes any offense he is in a pick-your-poison adventure quest for defenders.

And then there are the intangible elements of Hurts. He's a leader in the locker room. He knows how to get the most out of those he plays with. And it is clear that other players enjoy playing with him.

Philadelphia is paying for that as much as it is paying for his on-field production. Hurts is special. Hurts is Philadelphia.
