The Minnesota Vikings filled one of their most glaring holes by selecting USC standout WR Jordan Addison with the No. 23 overall pick in the draft.

Addison immediately upgrades the Vikings’ wide receiver room and slides right into the role Adam Thielen served for the past few seasons. With Thielen now playing for the Carolina Panthers, Addison provides a younger option on the outside with an incredibly high ceiling.

Addison played two seasons at the University of Pittsburgh where he broke out in 2021. As a sophomore, Addison compiled a whopping 100 receptions for 1,593 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

He transferred to USC where he played the 2022 season and recorded 58 catches for 875 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He stands at 5’11 and 173lbs with a 4.49s 40-yard dash in the combine. Not only does Addison have elite speed, but he has the ability to make the contested catch downfield, something that Kirk Cousins has had success with in Minnesota.

Minnesota now adds another weapon to one of the most dynamic group of pass catchers in the NFL. With playmakers like Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn to go along with TE T.J. Hockenson, Addison should have plenty of opportunities to make plays in one-on-one situations.

Vikings fans should feel content with the addition of Addison as the team heads into Day 2 of the draft with one less need. Minnesota has four picks remaining in the draft, but just one third-round selection on Friday (No. 87 overall).
