The Eagles need to re-sign RB Boston Scott just because of what he did after the Super Bowl
It's not often that you hear an argument for a third-string running back to be re-signed, but I think there's a case for the Philadelphia Eagles to re-sign Boston Scott. It's not often that you hear an argument for a third-string running back to be re-signed, but I think there's a case for the Philadelphia Eagles to re-sign Boston Scott.
Scott, who played behind Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell in Philly this season, rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.
Not exactly gaudy numbers.
But that's not why I think the Eagles need to bring the former Louisiana Tech standout back in 2023.
It's because of what he did after Philadelphia lost Super Bowl LVII.
Scott was one of the last players to leave the field on Sunday night because he stood on the sideline and watched the Kansas City Chiefs celebrate their Super Bowl win.
I don't care what he does on the field, that's the type of mindset the Eagles need in the locker room next season as they look to avenge their loss to the Chiefs.
Some players are more valuable than their stats suggest. And I think Scott is one of those players. He won't be an expensive player to bring back. And with the uncertainty surrounding Sanders' future with the team (he's a pending free agent), it makes sense to lock in some running back depth early in the offseason.
It seems like a no-brainer to bring Scott back in 2023 — regardless of what the numbers say.
