The Miami Dolphins just might be the perfect fit for one of the NFL’s top free agents of the 2023 offseason.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is set to his the free agent market when the new league year begins on March 16. Jacobs, who won the NFL’s rushing title in 2022, has a unique preference for his next destination, if he doesn’t return to the Raiders.

The Raiders also have the option to use the franchise tag on Jacobs, though he has some stipulations that must be met if that's the route the team chooses to take.

Jacobs told Chris Simms and Mike Florio that his wish is to land “somewhere tax free.”

Miami happens to be one of just six teams located in a state without income tax. The other five are:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jacksonville Jaguars

Las Vegas Raiders

Arizona Cardinals

New Orleans Saints

Las Vegas makes the most sense for Jacobs, but the star running back could be turned off at the team’s decision to part ways with QB Derek Carr.

The Bucs, Jags and Saints all have some sort of stability in their backfield, which leaves the Cardinals and Dolphins as Jacobs’ two external options.

Interestingly enough, Dolphins running backs Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed are all free agents. That opens up a spot for Jacobs to assume the role of the lead back for a team that needs an answer at the running back position.

The appeal of living in Miami only adds to the allure for the prospective Dolphins. The ball is in Jacobs’ court. It’s ultimately his decision to poke around and find the fit that makes the most sense for him.
