Well, it's official. The Buffalo Bills have one of the most underrated players in the entire NFL. Bills Mafia has been saying it for a while, but Matt Milano (and the AP voters) just made it official.
Prior to their first postseason game on Sunday, the Bills learned two of their players earned AP All-Pro honors.
Linebacker Matt Milano made the First Team All-Pro with wide receiver Stefon Diggs making the cut a Second Team All-Pro.
Here's the thing. Milano, for some odd reason, didn't make the Pro Bowl!
What's even weirder is that this is now officially a trend for the Bills. As Jon Scott pointed out on Twitter, this is the second year in a row in which a Bills player makes the First Team All-Pro but not the fan-voted Pro Bowl.
It's not like Milano's impact on the field was hard to miss. Everyone who watched a Bills game this season would've figured out that the guy wearing #58 is pretty darn good at football.
And he's been huge for Bills DC Leslie Frazier, too. Milano has shined in coverage (3rd best LB in NFL passer rating allowed), versus the run (12 tackles for loss), and even as a blitzing defender.
That last part became especially significant once edge rusher Von Miller went down and the Bills relied more on designed pressures. Milano ranked eighth in the NFL in QB pressures (19) among linebackers this season.
And honestly, this isn't the first season he's made that kind of impact. It's amazing to see him get long overdue credit as one of the best defenders in football. The NFL world must make note of the Bills star defender.
And hey! He pretty much ended the New England Patriots' playoff hopes last weekend, too.
On Sunday's playoff game against the Miami Dolphins, the Bills will ask a lot from Milano. The Dolphins offense stretches the field horizontally and vertically like few teams in the NFL do, and they'll likely insist on the running game since Tua Tagovailoa won't be available to them.
Expect a huge day from Matt Milano in Buffalo. Whoops, excuse me. That's All-Pro linebacker, Matt Milano. There. I fixed it.
