The Dallas Cowboys defenses showed plenty of flashes of greatness this past season. They will want more consistency next season, but overall, the unit was impressive. A lot of young talent had plenty to do with that.
Of course, Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs, and DaRon Bland headline that group of blossoming players.
Behind the scenes, there's another player that is just coming into his own. He's poised for a massive breakout in 2023.
That would be defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa.
The former UCLA Bruin has been a pleasant surprise as a third round pick in 2021. He's provided quality depth for the Cowboys, and he deserves a bigger opportunity next season.
Odighizuwa is projected to start for Dallas on the interior as of right now.
They may add more talent at that position in free agency or the draft, but they shouldn't discount Odighizuwa's upside.
In 2022, the Cowboys defender put up a 63.3 player grade, according to Pro Football Focus.
This advanced stat of the week is powered by Boston Scientific!
That was clear improvement from his grade in 2021, which was just a 48.5.
Odighizuwa is absolutely developing better than many folks expected as his playing time increases. He should be an important piece to a solid defensive line next season for the Cowboys.
