Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel put an end to all of the speculation surrounding his team’s plan at quarterback for Sunday’s Wild card Round matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

Having ruled starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa out earlier in the week, McDaniel hinted at the possibility that the Dolphins could start third-string signal caller Skylar Thompson.

With back-up QB Teddy Bridgewater dealing with a pinkie injury, it was Thompson who got the starting nod in Week 18’s win over the New York Jets. On Friday, McDaniel made it official, declaring that Thompson will be the Dolphins’ starter for Sunday’s trilogy with the Bills.

“Skylar is going to start. Teddy has done a great job, really just being a part of the team, getting himself closer and closer to being able to play the way that he knows he needs to play. He’s really doing whatever it takes so that we can have him available on Sunday.”

McDaniel went on to mention that Bridgewater is doing everything possible in order to be available for Sunday’s contest. However, with a finger injury on his throwing hand, it’s unlikely that Bridgewater would be an effective option in the passing game.

Behind Bridgewater is veteran journeyman Mike Glennon, who the Dolphins signed last week. Glennon could serve as an emergency back-up option on Sunday if Bridgewater isn’t able to suit up.
