Bills player asks team for one more chance

The Buffalo Bills are fun enough to not only draw a player out of retirement but to make him want to stay unretired.
At least that's Cole Beasley's situation right now.
The 33-year-old wide receiver played in Buffalo from 2019-2021 before retiring prior to last season. He had a very brief stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 before finally returning to the Bills, a move he asked for by remaining in contact with GM Brandon Beane.
Beasley played just two games in the regular season with the Bills but had some moments in the playoffs, where he caught five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.
It felt like Beasley was slowly finding his sauce before the Bills were eliminated against the Cincinnati Bengals. Now he seems to have a chip on his shoulder and appears ready for a return if Buffalo opens the door.
"It's weird this season is ending because I feel like I just got here," Cole Beasley told Jay Skurski from The Buffalo News. "I feel like I was just starting to get back in my groove a little bit, so it's frustrating, but I look forward to hopefully getting another opportunity."
Beasley added in the article that he'd like to be with a team that's contending within the NFL.
"Obviously, I want to be somewhere that I can win, and I know that's here, also. If that option is there, I would definitely do that. We'll just have to see."
Although it wasn't a direct request to the team, you can bet Beasley will keep in touch with Beane. Clearly, he wants another chance after a brief return to Buffalo.
But it won't be easy to make him fit into the team's plans. While Jamison Crowder and Jake Kumerow are set to hit free agency, the Bills still have slot WR Isaiah McKenzie and could be interested in ramping up Khalil Shakir's snap count.
But the central focus at the position is likely adding a high-end weapon to complement Stefon Diggs as WR2. Clearly, this offense could use a more complete and consistent wideout. We'll see if the Bills deliver.
But if possible, Beasley wants a spot on the team.
