Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been recovering since his traumatic injury against the Cincinnati Bengals.
During primetime football, the safety collapsed on the field from a reported cardiac arrest. The quick-thinking assistants on the Bills staff jumped into action and began CPR. Since then, the entire world has been clinging to every update that's been available.
Video quickly goes viral
In a message on social media, Hamlin himself expressed his gratitude and what's to come with his journey and impact on the world.
Hamlin, directing his message to millions, described the outpouring of love he has received.
"I'm so thankful to everybody. I know it isn't enough to just be thankful." Hamlin continued, "this is just the beginning of the impact I wanted to have on the world."
Hinting at his future and what's to come, Hamlin was thoughtful with his response. "With God's guidance, I will continue to do wonderful and great things."
Sharing his sentiment to all of those who have expressed their love for the safety, Hamlin further thanked all of those who made his recovery possible.
"I couldn't do this without any of the support, and the love, and I can't wait to continue to take y'all on this journey with me."
In fitting fashion, Hamlin ended the video with his signature heart hands, once again showing love for all those who have helped him along the way.
Buffalo strong
The Buffalo Bills season ended in heartbreaking fashion. However, this is a huge boost for the community and fan base who were hoping for so much more this season. The city of Buffalo has endured so much this past year.
From a mass shooting at a local grocery store to a blizzard that took the life of dozens, the community has come together in an incredible way. Within just the Bills roster, there was plenty of adversity as well. Outside of Hamlin's traumatic injury, Dawson Knox had lost his brother earlier in the season.
This will not take away the pain of the devastating playoff loss, but hearing Hamlin himself send a heartfelt message for the world to see is an incredible step in his journey.
At the end of the day, Hamlin is alive and well and on the road to recovery. Here's hoping that we can see Hamlin on the field again, in some capacity.
