Eagles, Sirianni

There is one thing that happened to the Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni this offseason way too often, but it isn't necessarily bad.

In fact, it's kind of a good thing because it shows that Sirianni knows what he is doing when it comes to building a staff. It shows that he is picking the right guys, and creating the right culture, a winning culture.

I mean, he has to be doing something right, because not one but two of his coordinators left him, and are now head coaches elsewhere.

But, it doesn't affect him negatively. In fact, it's a good thing for him. It's what Sirianni wants.

"As the head coach, I still have to think about those things because that is a very important part of being a head coach, is who you replace guys with," Sirianni said. "You're hoping that you have success. You're hoping you lose guys for the benefit of them and their career and their family."

Sirianni now has to find two more guys to replace those two, who will also probably be up for head coaching jobs next year or even the year after. But, that's what it's about, even if you hate to see them go.

"You hate to lose guys because the reason they're here in the first place is because I felt like they were really good coaches," Sirianni continued. "Just like you go into a job interview and you say, 'I want this guy, this guy, and this guy.' That's not always the reality that you're going to get all those guys.

"It's the same scenario here. Of course, I want to keep these guys, they're great coordinators, but in the event that I lose them, I have an idea of what I want to do at both spots. The answer is sometimes, yes, it's in the building, and sometimes it's outside of the building. But I feel like we have a lot of good options, and I feel like we have a lot of good options in the building that we'd be excited about if that were to happen."

The Eagles are a historical franchise. They are a team that has ties to every single head coaching hire this off-season. Jonathan Gannon, who was just the Eagles’ defensive coordinator this season, is now the Cardinals’ head coach. Sean Payton, the Broncos‘ new head coach, was the Eagles’ quarterback coach from 1997-1998.

Frank Reich, the former Eagles offensive coordinator from 2016-2017, is now the head coach in Carolina. DeMeco Ryans, the new head coach of the Houston Texans, was a linebacker for the Eagles from 2012-2015. And of course, Shane Steichen, the new Colts head coach, was the offensive coordinator last season.

The Eagles and Nick Sirianni are only adding to that and will continue to add to the legacy that is the Eagles franchise and the success that comes.
