The latest post-Super Bowl mock draft from Pro Football Focus has the Philadelphia Eagles making a selection in the first round that would mean saying goodbye to a starter.

PFF's Michael Renner has the Eagles drafting Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Philly has the No. 10 pick by virtue of the trade they made with the New Orleans Saints ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Drafting Gonzalez would likely mean that cornerback James Bradberry wouldn't be back with the Eagles in 2023.

From PFF:

James Bradberry was one of the best free agent signings of 2022, but he came to Philadelphia on a one-year deal and very likely played his way out of the team given their tight cap situation. Gonzalez is a similarly long cornerback who picked off four passes and broke up six more this past fall.

Bradberry, who will likely be remembered by Philly fans for the defensive hold that gave the Kansas City Chiefs a first down late in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LVII, played well enough for the Eagles this season that he probably earned a multi-year deal.

And as Renner noted, Philadelphia's cap situation almost certainly isn't going to allow the franchise to bring the former Pro-Bowler back in 2023.

Replacing Bradberry through the draft would make the most sense for the Eagles as it would allow them to address the cornerback position with a cheaper option than free agency.
