The Kansas City Chiefs have earned a reputation of being bold and taking chances.

After all, the franchise traded up in the first-round to draft an air raid quarterback a few years ago. Safe to say that worked out tremendously as Patrick Mahomes has flourished. Kansas City now has two Super Bowls in the last four seasons, as a result.

Kansas City has continued to push the envelope as they look to continue their winning ways. The midseason trade for Kadarius Toney is a perfect example of that.

Toney was drafted by the New York Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft. His career never really took off in the Big Apple, largely due to injuries. Therefore, when the opportunity presented itself, the Chiefs jumped to add the electric playmaker to the roster.

And it paid off in a big way. On the biggest stage.

Bold move pays off for Chiefs

Toney put his playmaking ability on full display in the Super Bowl. He created separation with ease down the field and even hauled in the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Furthermore, Toney had the play of the game in the Chiefs' win. He returned a punt 61-yards shortly after his touchdown reception. That gave Kansas City the ball inside the five-yard line.

While Toney did not fill up the stat sheet like Travis Kelce, his presence was felt in key moments. It's further proof that the Chiefs understand how to build a championship roster.

"I don't know what the Giants was doing with KT, but he's a dog," said Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. "Brett Veach and Andy Reid, they know how to pick and choose who to go get for this team"

The bold move paid off in significant fashion for the Kansas City Chiefs. As a result, the franchise now owns its third Lombardi Trophy.
