The Philadelphia Eagles were so close to beating the Chiefs and winning the Super Bowl. A few more plays go their way, and we are talking about the 2022-2023 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.
But, it didn't happen and that's okay. Sometimes you have to come to the realization that things like this happen. I mean, heck, one Eagles player even came to the realization they could lose the game, during the game.
“When we went up 27-21, I knew, deep down, that it was probably a chance we were going to lose,” A.J. Brown said.
What does that statement mean? A lot of people think that may have been a shot at his defense, but it's not.
While, yes, the Eagles defense was awful in the second half, as they gave up 24 points in that time span, his comment actually had nothing to do with the Eagles, and everything to do with the Chiefs.
In my opinion, Brown was referring to how good the Chiefs' offense is. He had a feeling that once the Chiefs brought the score to a one-possession game in the second half, it could be too late.
Not to mention, Patrick Mahomes has a history of winning in comeback fashion, especially in the playoffs. The last time they won the Super Bowl, they trailed by at least 10 points in every postseason game they played, including a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, as they won by 11.
The Eagles still played a great game. Yes, we wish it could have gone a different way, but it didn't. That doesn't mean Brown is calling out his teammates, at least I don't think he is.
This team has great chemistry, as we saw all year long. That will carry over into next season as they try to do the same thing they did this season, only change the outcome of the final game.
